TOWN OF LOGANSPORT

December 10, 2024 

The regular monthly meeting of the Logansport Town Council was held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in the Council Chamber of Logansport Town Hall with Mayor Judge Cordray presiding. Council members present: Katherine Freeman, Pam Thomas, Anthony Wilson and Mark Woods. Absent: Zachary Bossier. A quorum was present. 11 guest were in attendance.

The meeting was opened with the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

With a motion from Mr. Wilson and second from Mrs. Freeman a public hearing was opened to discuss the 2025 proposed budget. There were no questions or comments from the public and the meeting adjourned with a motion from Mrs. Freeman and seconded by Mr. Wilson. All ayes, one absent.

The November minutes were approved as written with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Woods. All ayes, one absent.

The monthly bills were approved as presented with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Wilson. All ayes, one absent.

Mayor Cordray recognized and presented plaques to the following committees: Krewe of Aquarius, River City Fest, Ricky Warren Fireworks Show and Logansport Christmas Festival, for a job well done. All events were great and they get better every year, drawing a lot of people.

Mrs.Charlotte Miller talked to the council about keeping the Channel 3 KTBS Tower Cam on our riverfront to advertise our community and parish to the public. After discussion it was agreed to keep the advertising for one year with all ayes, one absent.

The 2025 proposed budget was approved with a motion from Mrs. Freeman and seconded by Mr. Woods. All ayes, one absent.

The 2024 Budget amendments were approved with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Woods. All ayes, one absent.

The heating unit at the water plant was not working, Mayor Cordray poled the council for the go ahead for a new unit. It was decided to go ahead and purchase new unit with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Woods. All ayes, one absent.

Last month the old ford tractor was declared as surplus, with a motion from Mrs. Freeman and seconded by Mr. Woods it was approved to swap the tractor to 5 E Mechanical Services for work done on the 2014 Chevy 1500. All ayes, one absent.

Mayor Cordray welcomed new council member Michael Mynes and the four other council members and congratulated Mark Woods on Mayor. Mayor Cordray reported all the work that had been done with this council in the last four years: Replaced all canopies, lighted downtown with western lamps, astro-turfed the park, new welcome sign on east end of town, paved parking lots at riverfront and behind townhall and few streets throughout town and remodeled building for community center that is being used often. Probably 90% of the funding for these project came from grants. Mayor Cordray commended Larry Bagley, State Representative, Barry Millligan, State Senator, DeSoto Parish Police Jury, DeSoto Parish Tourist Bureau and Logansport Chamber of Commerce for the grants we received.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned with a motion from Mrs. Thoams and seconded by Mrs. Freeman. All ayes, one absent.
