TOWN OF LOGANSPORT

FEBRUARY 13, 2024 

The regular monthly meeting of the Logansport Town Council was held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Logansport Town Hall with Mayor Judge Cordray presiding. Council members present: Katherine Freeman, Pam Thomas, Anthony Wilson, and Mark Woods. Absent: Zachary Bossier. Five guests were present.

The meeting was opened with the Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

With a motion from Mrs. Freeman and second from Mrs. Thomas the January minutes were approved. All ayes. One absent.

The utility and general fund bills were approved with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Wilson. All ayes. One absent.

Mark Magee, Chief for Desoto Parish Fire District 1 approached the council with the request for property to build a training facility. After explaining abut what the facility would do for the town, council members call for a Public Hearing next month with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Wilson. All ayes. One absent.

Ashley Denmon asked the council to put a speed bump on Magnolia Street between 6th and 7th streets. After much discussion the council and Mayor agreed to look into and see what should be done.

A resolution that the Town of Logansport informs the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality that the following actions necessary to maintain permit requirements contained in the Louisiana Pollution Discharge Elimination System (LPDES) permit, number LA0033308 was approved with a motion from Mr. Woods and seconded by Mrs. Thomas. All ayes. One absent.

The Water Purchase Contract between Town of Logansport and City of Joaquin was approved with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mrs. Freeman. All ayes. One absent.

Mayor Cordray reported the Krewe of Aquarius Mardi Gras Banquet and Parade was a success and turned out great. He also reported the street overlays were in progress.

With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned with a motion from Mrs. Thomas and seconded by Mr. Woods.
